So, my friends here all wanted to go to Disneyland. I have already been there within the last month but, of course, I just can't say no to Disneyland!

Sorry it has been so long since my last post but I have been BUSY! I've been trying to get out more and now that I've finally made real friends its easier to do that. But do not fret because I have another post ready and waiting! I'll give y'all some time to digest this one, but keep checking back!

Hey everyone! Man, I have been BUSY lately! I only have class in the mornings except for Wednesday and Friday, but I've been going out with friends and/or getting thing accomplished every other afternoon, so I haven't had much time for updates! However, I do have pictures!
( Aquarium type thing )
I also completely blinged out my cell phone! :D

Today I was lucky enough to go to a small Matsuri (or festival) in Kichijoji, one of the districts on my way to/from school. It was at this moderately sized Buddhist temple, and for 100yen you could make a wish at the temple itself, but mostly Matsuri these days are about FOOD and games.

I also bought a phone yesterday! FINALLY. I had been struggling with the choice to either buy an American phone that would actually work here, or get a Japanese phone to be more a part of the social scene here. I had decided on a Japanese pre-paid phone, but it turns out those are incredibly hard to find and all the other kids in my group had bought all of them already! So yesterday we go to Akihabara because we heard they had pre-paid phones, which they did not. Sadface. BUT! The sales lady tells us that because it is that store's 3 year anniversary, they are having a MASSIVE sale. I got a $500 phone for NINETY-EIGHT DOLLARS. It has TV! And e-mail! And internet! And all for only $22 a month because of a student discount! AND I get a $100 mail in rebate! :D

So, I have completed my first week of Japanese school. Everyday I make the hour and a half (!) commute to school, take two hours of Japanese, and on wednesday and friday take four hours of Contemporary Japanese Culture 2 1/2 hours later. Long days, but I'm enjoying it. My afternoons are lonely, but I'm starting to make friends so hopefully that will not always be the case.

So, I totally just posted yesterday, but I was excited about what I did today! So, as I mentioned yesterday, today Angelic Pretty opened a new store! I was supposed to go with one of the girls from my trip, but we never quite worked out when we would be going, so I ended going alone. I got a little lost because I left through the wrong exit, but I used my mad Tokyo directional skillz and found my way very quickly. Maybe I'm getting to know the city already! A girl can dream. Anyway, it was very pink.
( Cut for PINK. )
So that pretty much took up my whole day. Getting dressed for Lolita outings takes FOREVER when you do it right, and then the train ride to Shinjuku, then getting lost, then wandering around in the store wishing I had more moneys, then leaving and getting all the way back to the station before remembering I had also wanted to buy a magazine at the big bookstore, and then finally getting on the train back took forever! But it was a good way to kill some of my day. Now I'm just hanging out in my room, watching Ugly Betty and Pushing Daisies on my computer (thanks again, Grandma, for the external hard drive! It's a life saver!), and listening to the kind of intense thunder storm.
Oh! I also have a few miscellaneous pics.

Hey everyone! So I've been really busy with orientations all this week, but I have some free time until my Japanese/Foreign student meet and greet so I thought I give you all an update! Pictures and experience, what do you know. But we'll start with pictures. :D
( A bit of Akihabara and my room! )
So! That is my home. Mostly. It's very small, but I don't really take up a lot of space all on my own. Or, rather, I don't have to. I like it, except that the kitchen is a bit nonexistant and the internet is awful. But it has air conditioner! And the bed is surprisingly comfortable.
In other news, I'm starting to look at some events I'm going to be able to attend while I am here. First off, TOMORROW, ther is a Lolita store opening! Angelic Pretty, which is my favorite Lolita brand, is opening a new store in Shinjuku. One of the other girls on my trip and I are going over, all decked out, to get some of the sales and freebies that you only get on opening day! I'm suuuuuper excited. :D
Also, there is a"Japanese Street Fashion" Fashion Show at the end of the month! I don't know if tickets are still available, but I sure hope so because this would be AMAZING.
Well, I start classes on Monday, but I'm only taking 2 classes (it's 19.5 units though!) so I should have more time to snap pics and post them here along with stories!

So I have been in Japan for just over a week now! Whoa! So far I have been to:
-Shinjuku
-Harajuku
-Tokyo Disney Sea
-Tokyo Disneyland
-Nerima (Ekoda)
-Mitaka (ICU campus)
-Akihabara
-Ikebukuro
Shinjuku and Harajuku were the first places we went. And we shopped! Here are some pics of what I bought those days. :D
( Click me for pictures! )
Next up was Tokyo Disney Sea! It was an amazing theme park. The taxi to get from Shinjuku to our hotel was 11,000 yen ($110!), but we never would have made it with all of our luggage on the trains!
( Tokyo Disney Sea was Impressive. )
Next up was Tokyo Disneyland proper! It is almost exactly like our Disneyland, actually. Except that "frontierland" is "westernland" and "Main Street USA" is "World Bazaar". And the food is very different. Curry EVERYWHERE. And gyoza. And sesame churros! Not a lot of veggie food though. :(
( DISNEY!!!! )
Well, there you go! Next time will be once we had moved into my town!

Hey everyone! So this is going to be my travel blog. Not much up yet because I'm still settling in to my apartment here in Nerima, but I have pictures from Disneyland that will be going up soon! So keep this bookmarked and check back occasionally.
